Synopsis:

After a successful career in front of the camera and on the stage, an actor is willing to sacrifice everything when she finally confronts her true gender identity and transitions from male-to-female. We follow Myrna as she struggles to find work as an actress, wrestles with a manager who still wants to send her out as her former-famous self, Michael and deals with the drama of her friends' reactions as they make an effort to come to terms with Myrna and her life-altering transition.

Who is Myrna?

Marlo Bernier - Myrna Creator and Star
Myrna Creator and Star - Marlo Bernier

Marlo Bernier brings 50 plus years of living to the table, as well as over two decades of solid work on both stage and screen. On stage (Mark) Bernier repeatedly delivered award-winning performances in roles such as, Roy Cohn in Angels in America; Parts I and II, the twins John/James in Love! Valour! Compassion!, and Berg in God's Country. Along with memorable guest roles in COLD CASE, Homicide: Life on the Street, Las Vegas and ALIAS. And on the larger screen in The Last Time We Were… and in Fincher’s ZODIAC.

Marlo's inspiring and life-changing story!

I don’t know when it was exactly, that I found myself with feelings of the female kind,  but as with so many stories of transsexuals, it began very early and it's safe to say that my first memory of such would have been at the age of four. It wasn't until later, in my teens, that I found out that grown-ups called it something else.

I was  transsexual, but kept telling myself that it was just a phase.  I joined the Air Force, played in bands overseas, did copious amounts of heroin, got married, acted my heart out and yet, always deep down inside there was this knowledge that I wasn't being true to who I was.  I wasn't happy.

Flash forward to 2007 when I was faced with a choice; transition or die.  I chose to live and in so doing I knew it would be impossible to continue to keep secrets and so I pulled on my Big Girl Panties and put it all on the line, publicly, as I transitioned from male-to-female/Mark-to-Marlo.

Yes, I have lost a few friends and family along the way.  The calls to audition ceased.  I sacrificed much, but in return I gained much more,  so much more.   And amazingly once I'd stopped hiding from myself, relationships with an overwhelming majority of my family, friends and colleagues only flourished and strengthened and that has certainly never before been more evident than in seeing the quality of artisans who have graciously and enthusiastically attached themselves to Myrna.

I do very much desire for you to understand that though Myrna will tackle some pretty serious issues that it is in no way going to be a funeral dirge,  nor some sordid peek into the transsexual world,  but rather a celebration of life.

Yes, life with all its idiosyncrasies that every single one of us possess, no matter where we come from, or where we’re headed.  True, we are all different. However, our respective journeys though unique remain at their very core;  symbiotic.

Bottom-line;  I and all of my co-producers are fully aware and respectful of that with which we’ve been entrusted and we know that at the end of the day as we deliver you this show,  we will have to ask ourselves;  Did we tell the truth,  no matter the cost? I trust by now you know the answer to that.

Ultimately by showing you, our audience, this life of mine from Myrna's world-view, I believe hearts and minds will be transformed.,  barriers broken and stunned Straw Men knocked to the ground, that we will  indeed have contributed in a significant way toward this effort of social change and acceptance.

Sincerely,

Creator & Star of Myrna

As a screenwriter, Ted won the grand prize in Script Shark's Insider Screenplay contest for his neo-noir, thriller "Blue Motel." He also wrote the screenplay adaptation of the young adult novel "You Have The Write To Remain Violent" (Quantum Releasing) and the historical drama "Dream I Have" for producer Yoko Kubota. He wrote, directed and produced the short film "Shadow on the Wall," directed the short comedy "Breaking Bread" and co-directed the zombie-romance-musical-comedy "Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story." Ted is currently producing, editing and scoring the short film "Snuff." "Rigamortis" is repped by New Video and available on iTunes.

"For several years now, Marlo Bernier has been a very good friend of mine. Also, a colleague. We've collaborated on many projects, seek each others' advice in our writing, etc. A few years back, we were working on a short film together. At lunch during a tech scout, she revealed to me that she was "transitioining." I stared blankly at her... "Huh?" You see up until that moment (and for the majority of her life) I knew her as Mark. She is transsexual. Born physically male. But in her heart, mind and soul... a woman. She took the very brave and necessary step to change her physical gender to match her gender identity.

Over the years, the stories of her journey have been funny, heartbreaking and inspiring. I've never met a braver person whose use of humor in the face of obvious opposition has become a weapon of survival. I have more than once felt that these stories need to be told. Finally, we have decided that these stories will be told." -

CAMPAIGN UPDATES

01 Sep 2014

Well, Team Myrna -

That's a Wrap! We did what we said we were going to do from the beginning. We shot the pilot episode of Myrna, called; You're Not Done Yet - in 5 days.

We couldn't have done any of this without each and every one of you.

Please know that we are grateful beyond measure and words for everything you've given us. But mostly that you've given us your hearts.

Please continue to share this page with your friends, contacts, et al., as we are now moving directly into the post-production phase, so that we may be able to deliver this groundbreaking television series pilot to network.

With Much Love, Respect and Gratitude -

Myrna & Co.

13 Aug 2014

2 weeks from today we begin principal photography on the pilot episode entitled; You're Not Done Yet - please continue to support the show as you have been, with your generosity (your contributions), but most importantly, your generosity of Spirit - for this we can never express how grateful we are.

I will close for now with the following: (my FB status update and please share it with whomever you can think of who might be able to be that Angel)

"Let me be (not cryptic, as is my usual métier) crystal clear - we still need financial help - we have been hit with unforeseen expenses that are making it (in the very least; extra stressful - but I signed-up for this job, you didn't). We're already having to pull post-production dollars and earmark them for items in production (shooting - getting it in the can). I'm looking for an angel, with big expansive wings to swoop in with a "Hail Mary" pass that is heretofore unheard of. Contact me directly at 310-428-7361 (you know I must not be joking to put my phone number out here, but please don't call if you just want to talk to filmmakers - call if you can, or want to help someone who is changing the dialogue "once and for all" - (or please contribute what you can at the following url) - Thank you, Marlo Bernier (Creator - Myrna)http://greenlight.myrnatvshow.com
p.s. "Find a Way" - Diana Nyad"

p.p.s. come hell, or high water - we will begin and finish principal photography on the pilot episode beginning Tues Aug 26th and wrapping Sat Aug 30th - this you can take to the bank.

26 Jul 2014

Good Morning Every1!

Quick note to update you on much of what's going on concerning pre-production for the pilot.

1st - there will be an announcement early next week regarding some very fantastic casting news (stay tuned).

2nd - we're continuing to prep to shoot, beginning on Aug 26 - and in meetings daily with many of the crew. (Sam Kim, our DP - Dugg Kirkpatrick and Mary Kate Gales, our Key Hair and Make Up artistsans, - David Tomlin, our Post Production Supervisor - to name a few.

3rd - we're still scouting and locking down locations and hopefully we'll be able to complete this task by week's end (next week)

4th - and we are still finesing the shooting script, which has been through some tonal changes over the past couple weeks. But as the title of the pilot (itself) suggests (You're Not Done Yet) - we're not done yet. :D

Again, and yes, I will continue to say this; we are so very grateful for each and everyone of you for your financial and moral support - but most of all for your having belief in us and in Myrna.

Will update you all again and soon.

With Much Gratitude,

Marlo & Co.

18 Jul 2014

Hi EveryOne!

Quick Update for you all to let you know where we are in the pre-production phase of the pilot, et al.

First of all we want to thank you for all of your support, both financially as well as morally - you've been amazing!

We begin principal photograhpy on August 26 thru August 30 (when we'll wrap - and have it (the pilot) in the "can")

We're still locking down locations and assembling the team and will be updating our imdb page in the next couple weeks for you to be able to see all those involved etc.

We've got 2 days left in the campaign (officially) and could use an extra push (by you) in getting the word out and keeping up the momentum. So please, do share the link and please do feel free to tell people how you feel about Myrna.

That's all for now, but please stay connected as there will be more to come. This page will remain open, even after the campaign is over.

Wishing you all the best.

Myrna & Co.

10 Jul 2014

Good Morning, All!!!

We were LIVE yesterday on Brad Wyman's Get Funded broadcast and also Jennifer Fontaine's video on Myrna and what it means to her went LIVE yesterday as well. Both vids are viewable above in the Video Frame and again, just move your cursor over those little squares (just below the frame) and you'll see all the others that are available to view.

And we're now 10 days from the finish line - so please share this page and links and let your Social Media/Networks know how you feel about Myrna and its impact.

We still need Post-Production funds to cover us all the way out to delivery to Network. Even broken down to the lowest common denominator at $11.00 covering a Minute's worth of production time would be a big help (when enough people pull together).

So ask your contacts to "Give Myrna a Minute" - there's even a new Reward where if one contributes that amount (or more) they're going to get a minute's worth of Myrna footage before anyone else gets to see it!

Tell 'em to be the 1st!

We love and appreciate every single one of you and all of us at Myrna & Co. are overwhelmed by all of your generosity with your contribs, but most importantly with your generosity of Spirit.

Thank you,

Marlo & Co.

24 Jun 2014

Good Morning, Every1!

Just a quick heads up - a brand new video just went LIVE last night!!!

It's from one of the main cast members of Myrna, Paul McKinney (talks Myrna) -

You might've missed it, so I'll let you know where you can find it (here on our Fanbacked page)

So how the videos work on our page is easy -

1) You'll always see Marlo's initial statement on the show -

2) Directly beneath that frame are (currently) 6 White Dots

3) Move your cursor over the 2nd Dot (from left to right) and you'll see that the frame changes (that one's McKinney's)

4) and so on,...Presto (Game) Chango! Magic!

So if by chance you've missed any of the others, please take a quick look and if you have a fave, then please share it in your posts on Facebook, Twitter, et al.

There are some really amazing people, saying some really amazing things about Myrna and what the show means to them. So please watch 'em, it'll brighten your day :)

Thank you again, for all you've done and are continuing to do for us.

Fortunate Beyond Measure,

Marlo & Co.

23 Jun 2014

Good Monday Morning to All of You on Team Myrna!

It is with great excitement and gratitude that I (on behalf of all of us here in Los Angeles) am posting our 2nd Update to 1st, thank you from the bottom of our hearts  for all you've done by telling us with both your  dollars and your voices (through all the posting you've been doing on your Social Media/Networks, etc) that you want to see Myrna made.

And it is because of all of your generous contributions that you put us at 100% funded to goal within the 1st 10 days of the Myrna fan-financing campaign! You Guys 'n Girls, ROCK! (and for those of you who know me personally, I never say that :))

Much is happening since reaching our initial goal and I will give you a glimpse by listing the following:

- Pre-Production began on Saturday, June 14th
- We were given an enormous gift by two dear and longtime friends - Production Offices for the Myrna Pilot
- We've begun to Crew-Up and are starting to get commitments from the cast as well
- Location(s) scouting commenced a week ago, Monday and throughout last week we looked at 2 prospective houses and a studio (and today we'll be looking at 3 more locations here in LA)
- and countless production meetings, both face-to-face, as well as Skype and Conference Calls, et al.
***and much much more behind the scenes work is being done virtually around the clock as we gear-up to begin Principal Photography on or about the 19th of August - less than 8 weeks away!

The pilot episode is entitled; You're Not Done Yet and is a 43 pg script to be fully shot out on a 5 day grind.

And that brings me to the matter of Post Production and the Premiere of Myrna. (And no, We Are Not Done Yet!)

It is our sole intention to deliver Myrna to network(s) and on the screen for their consideration by the end of October 2014.

And with that vision comes the work of ensuring that our post-pro on the pilot is as good as anything this town has ever seen.  So we have now moved into Phase II of our Fan-Financing Myrna Campaign, in which we're looking to raise 15K to make Myrna, magic. Yes, HollyWoodLand TV Movie Magic.

So please continue to share this page with and across all of your Social Networks and connections to help us spread the word about this very unique and game-changing television show.

I have include links to the first 5 pieces of press which have already gone live in case you might've missed them. Feel free to add them to anything you post, share or broadcast - the links back to this page are in every one of those articles, as well.

Again, we cannot thank you enough for your generosity of your financial contributions.
But most of all we thank you for your generosity of Spirit.

Humbly Yours,

Marlo & Co.

07 Jun 2014

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick update to say how grateful we are for your support and to let you know that we've just posted a brand new video, which can be seen where the video frame/player lives. You'll see 3 Dots and each one of those represent a different vid for you to enjoy etc. Simply move your cursor over any one of them and click and you'll see the slider move to the next (motion) picture. Yes, I call it a "Motion Picture" because I'm that old :)

Jennifer, Ted and I just can't tell you enough how stunned we are at the support thus far and that you've all brought us to just under 50% financed in just under 3 days of us being LIVE!

You are the best!

Wishing you all the best and please look out for the next video update - it's going to be from Ms. Aleshia Brevard, who is attached to play the pivotal role of Holland Hollis (Myrna's former college professor and mentor) and we just know you're going to love what she's go to say about Myrna.

Alright - All 4 Now!
